Community and Economic Development

The mission of the Community and Economic Development Department is to proactively facilitate growth in Shelton through sound planning principles, consistent code implementation, and accurate, prompt customer service.

Staff in the Community and Economic Development department:

• Review development applications for code compliance in accordance with the Shelton Municipal Code
• Operate our Code Enforcement division, working with residents and property owners to maintain and improve property aesthetics, property values, and community appearance
• Review structural and architectural plans to ensure a safely built community
• Create plans in cooperation with the community for guiding the growth and vision of Shelton, such as the Comprehensive Plan
• Assist developers, residents, contractors, and businesses throughout the permitting process
