How to Pay My Utility Bill

Pay my utility bill online

The City of Shelton offers multiple methods to pay your City utility bills. Bills can be paid online, by phone, in person, by mail, or by using a customer dropbox. We have more information about each of these methods below.

Payment Methods

By Phone

Customers can pay their utility bills by calling 855-826-0796. Customers will need to have their account number and address number (example: 525 West Cota Street - your address number is 525) available for first-time use of this payment method. The software vendor will charge customers paying by phone to 855-826-0796 a $2.00 fee per transaction.

Please Note: As of August 1, 2024, Customer Service will not be available to take utility bill payments by phone.

Online

Our online utility bill payment system switched to Municipal Online Payments in April 2021. The benefits of paying your utility bill online include the ability to view real-time account balances, payment amounts, and consumption history in one convenient location.

Note: Please only use the link below or type this address in your browser to access Shelton's online utility bill payment system: www.municipalonlinepayments.com/sheltonwa. There are many online payment companies, but this is the only one Utility Billing/Customer Service has a relationship with.

Online - Directions
1. Go to municipalonlinepayments.com/sheltonwa and click on "Utility Billing".
2. A page will open with two options for paying your bill: Quick Pay, or Login. Here's a good way to remember the difference between the two:
  • Quick Pay: Use to just pay your bill. You will not be able to view account details or manage/make multiple payments for accounts. Renters who pay their utility bills directly to the City should only use this option. If you're a renter who pays the City directly for utilities, you should only use Quick Pay.
  • Login: Create an account to view your account details (transaction history, address info, account info, consumption history). Creating an account will allow you to manage multiple utility accounts or pay multiple bills in one payment.
You will need your account number (including the dashes) and last payment amount (no dollar sign needed) to access the OpenEdge payment system. These are both printed on your utility bill.

We've created two separate sets of detailed instructions for using either the Quick Pay option or creating an account:
