Public Works
The mission of the Public Works department is to enhance the safety, welfare, and livability of our community by providing and managing reliable infrastructure and services for transportation, water, stormwater, and wastewater systems.
Staff in the Public Works department:
- Maintain the City's infrastructure, including our streets, sidewalks, water service, wastewater treatment, stormwater, storm drainage, fleet/equipment and public structures
- Respond to snow/ice and other inclement weather events to ensure roads are safe for travel
- Ensure that construction and development projects are engineered and built to state construction standards as well as oversee all City construction projects
- Provide assistance at special events throughout Shelton

Examples of Public Works incidents worth reporting include (but aren't limited to): serious water leaks, fallen trees in a roadway, sewage backing up into a household or business, water across a roadway or flooding buildings, hazardous material spills on a roadway, or dangerous street conditions (sinkholes, potholes, etc.).
