City of Shelton Selects Chris Kostad as Next Police Chief
The City of Shelton is pleased to announce the selection of Captain Chris Kostad as the next Chief of the Shelton Police Department.
“It is a true honor to become the Chief of Police after 18 years of service with the City of Shelton,” said Kostad. “I look forward to continuing to provide excellent police service to the community and provide a safe environment for everyone to live, work, and play.”
Kostad currently serves as Captain within the Department, a position he has held since 2021. He has worked for the Shelton Police Department since 2006. Kostad has held multiple leadership roles, including Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.
As Captain, Kostad manages the Department's daily operations, including hiring, staffing, and training for all Police Department employees. He is also the Department's Accreditation Manager and coordinator for this year's re-accreditation process.
"Captain Kostad is a thoughtful goal-setter and a true professional," said City Manager Mark Ziegler. "His knowledge and experience, combined with his commitment to implementing best practices, make him a great fit for this position."
Kostad will begin serving as Chief in November. He will replace Carole Beason, who announced her intent to retire earlier this year.
