Preparing at Home
Think about ways to support each other during the unexpected. We believe a prepared community makes Shelton stronger and better able to recover from whatever comes our way.
Have short conversations regularly at work, home, or with service groups or other community organizations. Tackle subjects in small units – water, communication, safety, and shelter. The links below offer helpful lists, videos, and information from our community partners.
Some key actions to get prepared at home include:
- Do you have a meeting place and a backup meeting place?
- Memorize at least one key phone number
- Everyone in your home should sign up for CodeRED to receive local emergency alerts
- Pet and child go bags
- Download preparedness apps from the Red Cross on your smartphone
